Art Adventures! Kid's Saturday Drop-In Classes

Your child can join us every Saturday for a relaxed and inspiring drop-in art class at the museum! Whether your child is an experienced artist or just looking to have fun, our multi-media classes offer a creative space to explore new techniques and expression through art. Each session is designed to be fun, interactive, and hands-on, with a focus on encouraging your child's unique artistic voice.  

Each class will feature a new theme or project, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and collage so they can come back week after week to try something fresh and create their own masterpieces.

Materials are provided. Come create, connect, and have fun with art!

Ceramic Multi Bowls with Leah Corbett 6-8

Just in time for Mother's Day! Spend a creative evening handcrafting your own multi-bowl centerpiece with Fairfield-based ceramicist Leah Corbett. “Multi-bowls” are one of Leah’s most popular forms, and can be used as snack boards, jewelry catchers, air plant displays, or general organizers for keys & miscellaneous items. In this two-hour workshop, Leah will guide you through steps to pinch & smooth multiple bowl forms out of clay, attach them, and manipulate their shapes to fit your own creative style. We provide the clay, tools & glaze options. You get your hands a little dirty, choose your glaze, and then, once fired, come and pick up beautiful and unique gift for Mom, a friend or yourself! This is a great intro to hand-building class that will take you far in the world of pottery.

Sculptural Assemblage: 3D Collage from Everyday Materials

Break free from flatland and transform everyday materials into dynamic 3D sculptures! In this hands-on workshop, you'll explore “Sculptural Assemblage,” a creative process that repurposes household items—paper, recyclables, branches, and more—into expressive, dimensional artworks. Using paper-folding techniques, simple fasteners, and found materials, you'll construct structures that range from temporary guerrilla installations to lasting pieces. Whether you'reinterested in ephemeral street art or personal sculptural creations, this workshop will inspire you to see the artistic potential in your surroundings.

Lunch & Learn: An Interactive iPhone Editing Workshop

Come and enjoy a lunchtime Masterclass with Jane Beiles, acclaimed photographer for publications including The New York Times, Architectural Digest and House Beautiful.

This class is designed for any, and all, levels of photographers seeking to elevate their game. Participants will learn how to edit existing photos with the best practices standard to professional imagery. Jane will teach the key editing components and how to put them to use in order to improve your frames for personal or professional use. 

Takeaways will include a valuable toolkit to both enhance the photos in existing libraries plus informed knowledge to capture better frames in the future. Once registered, if you like, you will have the opportunity to submit an existing photo of yours which may be chosen as one of the frames to be used as a demonstrative learning tool for the class.

Jane’s classes are known to be both content-rich and joyful, with valuable educational kernels and more than a few laughs in the mix! 

The class will be taught on an iphone 16 but nearly all of the elements will be translatable to earlier models as well as to other manufacturers’ devices*. A brief touch on the new features on the 16 model will be helpful to new users or give owners of older versions information to decide if the investment in a new phone is worthwhile.

*if you are not an iphone user, you should be familiar enough with the analogous settings and navigation on your device as all instructions will be from the IOS perspective.

Join us for a week or more at Camp MoCA this summer! Camp MoCA 2025 season begins the week of June 16th and runs through the week of August 22th. Please note - there is a separate registration pro-rated link for Week 3/July 4th week

During registration, you will be asked to purchase a Camp MoCA t-shirt for your camper. You only need to purchase 1 t-shirt for the season.

  • All campers must purchase a 2025 Camp MoCA CT t-shirt.
  • T-shirts will be distributed to your camper on their first day at camp.

Camp MoCA offers weekly art activities, hands-on agricultural lessons, and daily indoor and outdoor fun. Camp MoCA CT is led by certified art educators & CPR/First Aid-certified camp counselors. We are a fully-accredited youth camp held indoors in our spacious, air-conditioned classrooms and outdoors (weather permitting). 

  • Tuition is refundable (except for administration fees) up to 48 hours after registration
  • 50% of tuition refundable until May 31st
  • Tuition is non-refundable on or after June 1st

On a typical day, campers will move through art lessons, immersive exhibition time, a science lesson in our working garden, time to play outside, and time to relax with calm, structured activities. We have specific plans to diversify instruction to meet the developmental needs of our campers, and we have special activities on some days when they have water play, ice cream, and dance parties, along with an informal camper talent show. On Fridays we have special programming where students get to exhibit their work in our galleries to their parents!

We have a maximum of 24 campers – 2-3 instructors and 2-4 counselors on-site, along with a Camp Director. Campers bring with them nut-free snacks, lunch, and a water bottle.

Camp MoCA CT is the perfect opportunity for parents to give their children a summer experience they will never forget. Our camp is fully accredited, so parents can rest assured that their children are in good hands. We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all campers.
